Opening

At SkateMin Asia, our mission is simple yet powerful: we bring spiritual and physical nourishment to children through skateboarding. In May 2025, our Tagaytay outreach launched— and recently, our regional team had the opportunity to travel there, strengthen bonds, and celebrate the surprising ways God showed up—even amid a typhoon.

The Team Comes Together

Despite stormy skies, our core crew—Joel, Caroline, Yancey, Jordan of SkateMin Japan, and Dale of SkateMin Asia Taiwan —used the downtime to connect, pray, and plan ahead. A local café gathering over coffee and donuts (a rare treat for some of us) set the tone for fellowship and strategy.

Ministry on the Move—Sidecar Adventure

The weather may have kept us indoors, but not our spirits. We hopped into a motorcycle sidecar and rolled over to an indoor skatepark—a beautiful reminder of how creativity thrives even when plans change. That same skatepark also represents a vital relationship in Tagaytay, directly tied to our capacity to operate—and we are grateful for how doors like that continue to open.

Feeding Bodies and Souls in the Mountain Village

Nothing warms our hearts more than sharing a meal—and stories—in a mountain village. There, over home-cooked food, we listened to children aged 8–15 share what SkateMin Asia means to them. Among them was one girl whose words cut deep:

“I was abused by a pastor. It made me hate religion... I wanted to be a part of this. I realized not all religion is bad.”

Her testimony reminded us why we do this—to create genuine communities where kids feel safe, seen, and empowered to try new things.

Skating Through the Rain

Even as rain poured down, children and teens flocked to the covered skate area. Together, we taught skateboard basics, laughed, shared snacks—and Dale (representing SMA) delivered a message inspired by David and Jonathan, and the friendship we choose in Christ. Despite the storm, hearts were opened, wheels kept rolling, and new friendships formed.
